If you have an FBI Criminal Background Check and you need to get an Apostille for it, the official authority that processes Apostilles for documents issued by the US Dept of Justice is the United States Department of State, which is located in Washington DC.
Although it is possible for a California Apostille to be obtained for such a document, this is not the recommended method, and a California Apostille may or may not be acceptable by the intended receiver of your document.
